Bettie Jean Hughes

 Bettie Jean Hughes 72, died faithfully on April 3, 2023, at St. Vincent in Little Rock, Arkansas after a courageous battle with renal failure. 

Bettie was born on April 28, 1950, in Moro, Arkansas to Bonnie Canady and Hattie Lee Broadway. She graduated from Anna Strong High School in Marianna, Arkansas. Bettie had a great tenure at the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette for 17 years as a successful career as a supervisor. In 1994, Bettie was happily married to James Lee Hughes who was her partner in life for 29 years at the time of her death.

Betties is survived by her husband, 5 children of her own, 1 through marriage, 20 grandchildren, and numerous others. Bettie was an honorable church mother who served as the ministry treasurer over dues, and benevolence. She consistently sponsored youth events and serviced missions on a consistent basis. Bettie was known for being a praiser and a heart of gratitude towards the Lord. 

Besides spending time with her family and friends, Bettie had a passion for traveling, shopping, enjoying church, and caring for her dog Frankie. Bettie had a bright and energetic personality and was known for her ability to serve when people needed her help. She touched many lives with her generous and passionate perspective on life. 

Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life: Greater Works Christian Church on Saturday, April 8, 2023, at 1pm. The viewing will be held Friday, April 7, 2023, at Faithful Funeral Home, 7727 Colonel Glenn Road, Little Rock AR 72204, from 1 - 6pm. The wake will be on Saturday, April 8, 2023, from 12Noon - 1pm at Greater Works Christian Church, 3517 Asher Avenue, Little Rock, Arkansas 72202.
