Betty Jo Dyer-Plant, 76, of Little Rock, AR was born March 5, 1947, in Scott, AR to the late Isreal and Cleo
Phillips-Dyer. She was freed from the pain and sins of this world on December 9, 2023. Family and
friends surrounded her.
She was educated in Lonoke Public School District. As a young adult, she moved to Spencer, Oklahoma
where she started her family. She later made the transition to Little Rock where she started a lengthy
career with Phillips Lighting Company until they closed. After the closing of Phillips Lighting, she obtained
many careers that showed her love for meeting people. Betty married the love of her life, David Plant.
They enjoyed marriage until the death of David on July 17, 1998. He was gone but never forgotten by all
who knew and loved him. Betty joined and was an active church member at St. John Missionary Baptist
Church. She enjoyed working in the hospitality ministry. Although she was not physically able to stand
for prolonged periods of time, she took pleasure in sitting and giving orders.
Preceded her in death are her parents, husband, daughter Sandra Faye Onwusa, sisters: Ruby Rhodes,
Helen Dyer, Edna Davis and Beatrice Cummings, brothers: Isiah Dyer and Leon Dyer,
Left to celebrate her life and memories: Charlesetta (Gerald) Hall of Monrovia, Maryland, Robert
(Sharon) Dyer of Little Rock, Detricia Wilson of Tulsa Oklahoma, Kiley Wilson of Arlington, Texas and
Rhonda Wilson of Little Rock, AR; 21 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren.
2 sisters, Delois Dyer-Benson and Glenda (Freddie) Peyton; 3 brothers: Levon (JoAnn) Dyer, Larry (Vickie)
Dyer and Gregory (Janet) Dyer; Loving-in- laws: son Lawrence Onwusa, sister: Erma Dyer; brothers:
Andrew Davis and John Cummings; Only 1 living uncle, Jake Dyer, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
