Denise’s Journey
Born on April 23, 1955, in Little Rock, Arkansas, Denise Louise Perkins was the sixth child of George Washington and Dorothy Mae Perkins. She lived a remarkable life filled with joy, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Throughout her 71 years, she exuded an infectious passion for life, touching the lives of all who knew her. Her presence brought comfort, and her smile lit up every room.
She was a devoted and loving mother, as well as a doting grandmother. She left this world on May 26, 2026, leaving behind a void that can never be filled. Her legacy of love, warmth, and unwavering energy will forever remain in our hearts.
Denise’s mother preceded her in death when Denise was young. She then moved to New York, where she spent most of her youth and some of her teenage years attending boarding school. She later returned to Arkansas to attend Job Corps, where she fell in love with nursing. She became a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and later a Registered Nurse (RN), continuing her passion for taking care of others.
Denise was blessed with her daughter, Denisha, the love of her life. Denise poured her heart, wisdom, strength, and unconditional love into Denisha, creating a bond that was more than mother and daughter. They were best friends, confidants, and each other’s safe place.
Denise also shared a special and loving bond with her granddaughter, Kyrie, who brought her so much joy and pride. Her love continued to grow through the generations, touching not only her daughter and granddaughter, but also those she embraced as family. Among them was her bonus daughter, Kira Sharkey, who was always there to assist, support, and love Denise whenever needed.
Denise’s love was steady, genuine, and deeply felt. She loved her family dearly, especially her siblings, and her legacy will continue to live on through Denisha, Kyrie and her husband, Donte, Kira, and all who were blessed to be loved by her.
Denise enjoyed playing spades, smoking her Kool Filter Kings, drinking a Coke, and going to the casino.
Denise was preceded in death by her parents, George Washington and Dorothy Mae Perkins; two brothers, Samuel Perkins (survived by Doreen) and George Wardell Perkins (Rose); and one sister, Shirley Ann Williams.
Denise leaves to cherish her memory: one daughter, Denisha Perkins; one granddaughter, Kyrie (Donte Ramos) of Little Rock, AR; two sisters, Sandra Noel (preceded by Robert) and Wilhelmenia McKinney; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends.
