Mother Dortha Mae Jordan-Booker was born December 22, 1935, to the late Johnnie and
Georgia Hopkins-Jordan in Grady, AR. She confessed a hope in Christ at an early age at Paradise
Missionary Baptist Church in Grady, AR. Graduate of Grady High School while she attended her
high school prom, she met the love of her life the late Deacon Luther Booker. After dating for
six months, they were united in holy matrimony for 60 years. To this union 8 children were
born. After moving to the east side of Little Rock she joined First Baptist Church, 901 Calhoun
Street in Little Rock where she remained a faithful servant for 64 years until her passing. Mother
Booker served faithfully as: Senior Mission, Mothers Board, Deaconess, New Members Class
Teacher.
After working for Timex Corp for 10 years, she became a stay-at-home mom. Mother Booker
was a wonderful cook, seamstress and well known as the “cake lady”. She showed love to everyone she met with her sweet humbling spirit. She had a beautiful loving smile that would warm
your heart. She loved her family, but above all she loved the Lord. Her favorite verse was “In
thee, O Lord, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness. “ KJV

Mother Dortha Booker was preceded in death by her parents Johnnie and Georgia Hopkins-
Jordan; Husband Luther Booker; Nine brothers Arthur Jordan, Donzell Jordan, Martin Luther
Jordan, Eddie “Doomey” Jordan, Theodis Jordan, Eddie Lee Jordan, Thomas Jordan, Johnnie
Jordan, Lonnie Jordan; Two sisters Georgia Lee Jordan and Hellean Washington; One son Luther
Booker, Jr; One granddaughter Shanta Latrice Batchelor, one son in law Leon Phillips.
Mother Dortha Booker leaves to cherish her memories Three sons; Alvin E. Gray (Rowena),
Dexter L. Booker (Vickie), Martin L. Booker (Jasmin) all of Little Rock, AR. Four daughters;
Gloria Booker-Fair, Lesia Booker-Phillips both of Little Rock, AR, Sandra K. Butler (Freddie) of
Caruthersville, MO, Felicia L. Sargent (Brent) of Dallas, TX; Two brother Henry Jordan (Jane),
Bruce Jordan both of Little Rock, AR; Four sisters Erma Jean Jordan, Marie Jordan both of Little
Rock, AR, Mildred Johnson of Cleveland, OH, Barbara Jordan of Pine Bluff, AR; one sister-in-law Carolyn Jordan; 15 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
