Gary Brown Obituary

Gary rounded his final bases, safely reaching Homeplate and embracing Jesus on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at the age of 72. Born in Batesville, Arkansas, on May 15th, 1951, Gary Eugene Brown was the third child of Crawford and Geneva Brown.
From his early years, Gary's fondness for the Sunshine Band at Bethlehem Baptist Church was evident. Recognizing his exceptional intellect, his family enrolled him in first grade at the age of 5. His academic prowess led to his advancement through Ethal O. Miller School, culminating in his graduation from Batesville High School at just 15 years old in 1967.
Gary commenced his collegiate journey at Arkansas College, now Lyons College, in Batesville in the fall of 1968. By 1971, he earned his BA in Mathematics. Subsequently, he pursued his Master of Science in Applied Mathematics at the University of Missouri at Rolla, now Missouri University of Science and Technology, completing it with a perfect score in the spring of 1972. Remarkably, Gary assumed a professorship at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri, before reaching the legal age to secure an apartment.
His intellect and professionalism garnered the attention of IBM's recruitment team, leading him to a distinguished career in the computer industry in Boulder, Colorado. Over four decades, Gary excelled in various roles, from Computer Analyst to Vice President of Marketing and Chief Information Officer.
Simultaneously, Gary shared his passion for math by serving as a professor at 11 different colleges and universities.
On February 14, 1985, Gary and Juanita exchanged vows in Denver, Colorado, blending their families into one with five children.
To Juanita, Gary was a paragon of intelligence, wit, compassion, loyalty, courage, pride, handsomeness, sincerity, articulation, mellowness, devotion, and genuineness.
Gary is survived by his loving wife, Juanita Brown, his children Kevin S. Brown of Denver, Colorado, Shawn J. Brown (Cori) of Denver, Colorado, Donald B. Woods of Austin, Texas, Jasmine A. Brown of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Angela J. Brown of Little Rock, Arkansas. He also leaves behind five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, his brother George Brown of Batesville Arkansas, and sisters Lewanda Vanpelt of Birmingham, Alabama, and Wrenetta Brown of Batesville, Arkansas. He is preceded in death by his parents, Crawford and Geneva Brown, and his brother Mitcheal Brown.
