Gloria “Dean” Ruth, age 71, of Little Rock, Arkansas, transitioned peacefully into eternal rest on Saturday, September 6, 2025, while in the compassionate care of HOSPICE home care, surrounded by the love of her family. Born July 19, 1954, in Dermott, Arkansas, Gloria was the beloved daughter of Willie Lee Coakley. She graduated from the Dermott High School Class of 1973 and pursued further studies in business at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR). Gloria built a long and respected career as the Office Manager at the City of Little Rock Probation Office, where she served faithfully for over 35 years. Her legacy is one of humility, kindness, and compassion, never seeking praise, yet often remembered for a comforting word or thoughtful gesture. Many remember Gloria’s encouraging spirit, often approaching her with heartfelt words: “You really helped me” or “Remember me?” At a young age, Gloria accepted Christ at Calvary Number One Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend West. She loved singing in the choir and walking in faith. Upon relocating to Little Rock, she continued her Christian journey at Holy Cross Missionary Baptist Church under Reverend I.V. McKenzie. Gloria was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Adam Ruth III; her mother and grandmother, both named Willie Lee Coakley; her grandfather Ollins Coakley; sister Arlesia Johnson; and brothers Rev. Dwight Davis, Kenneth Wilks, and Elijah Moorehead.
She leaves a legacy of love to be cherished by her devoted son, William Adam Ruth IV (Dr. Charolette-Jackson Ruth); grandchildren Arleecia, Joshua, Kabrian, Kabria, William V, Jared, and Jackson; great-grandchildren Braxton and Kynslei; sisters Ruby D. Brown, Debbie A. Williams, Pamela R. Perry (Chester), JoAnne (Alexander) Bogard and Sylvia Ann Riley(Ronald Harrington); brothers Michael L. Sanders and Jason R. Coakley; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and loved ones.Gloria’s voice, her wisdom, and her unwavering faith will forever be missed—but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
