May 27, 1951, Jesse Jr., and Willie Mae Davis were given a great gift from God,
Jacquelyn Marie Davis Palmer. Our heavenly father received our beloved Jackie
into his loving arms (when she passed away) September 6, 2023.
Jackie confessed a hope in Christ at an early age at New Hebron Baptist Church
where she served in various capacities as a member for over 60 plus years. As a
vital member of the beautification and culinary committees, she served
faithfully until illness prevented her from offering her best. In spite of it all, her
heart always remained with her church.
Jackie was a member of the graduating class of 1969 at Horace Mann High
School. She went on to study nursing and fulfilled her calling of taking care of
the sick and shut in. Affectionately known as “Nurse Palmer,” Jackie was
employed at Saint Vincent Hospital (CHI) for 35 years and Pulaski County jail for
20 years.
For those who knew Jackie or merely met her, she will be remembered as a lady
of standard, who was poised and an icon of elegance. She loved fashion!
Jackie was also an avid cook, queen of the best low-calorie desserts you’ve ever
eaten. She was a strong caring mother, a praying grandmother, a sharing sister,
a motivating sister in-law, a tell it like it is aunt, but most importantly, she was a
Child of God.
Jackie was married to the late Johnnie Palmer and to that union two children
were born, Shierra and Lamont Palmer. She is preceded in death by her parents
Jesse Jr. and Willie Mae Davis. She leaves to cherish her memories, daughter Shierra Smith, son Lamont
Palmer, two grandsons, Nathaniel, and Christian Palmer. She is also survived by
two Sisters Janice Pettigrew, Deborah (late Bobby) Mason): brothers Marcus
(Vera), Bryant (Sandra) Davis, Theodore Sr. (Nancy); a host of nieces, nephews,
cousins, and friends. Special “thank you” to James Joshua.
