James A. Bankhead, 84, of Little Rock, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents R.B. and Annie Mae Bankhead (nationally honored community activist and humanitarian); his brother Joe Lee and sister Annie B., both of Chicago, Illinois; and son Shawn of Little Rock. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara; son Bryan of Little Rock; daughter Sharon of Houston, Texas; brother Augustus of Nashville, Tennessee; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends. He will be laid to rest with full military honors Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, 1501 W. Maryland Avenue, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72120.
