James Marvin Perry Sr (68), was the fifth child born to Robert Jr., and Katie Mae McTyer Perry on June 1,1956 in Little Rock, AR.
James received his education in the Little Rock public schools. He attended college at UALR, and later Pulaski Technical College.
James joined the Army in 1975, where he served as a Pershing Missile Crewman in Germany, he was later honorable discharged. He was also a class A CDL driver for many years for AW Johnson, and later SAIA motors. He worked at J & M foods as floor support until his health failed him.
James accepted Christ into his life at an early age at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. E.D. Doyle. He later became a faithful member of the Greater Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Cleo R. Nellum Sr. until he was called home.
James was a loving family man. He married Jereline Young in 1975, and to this union three children were born. James loved his children very much.
James was considered a man of few words. He was very strong, hardworking and courageous. He was as sharp as a tact. He was known for his nice hats at his church.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Perry Jr., and Katie Mae McTyer Perry, his baby boy Michael I. Perry I, one sister, Charlette Perry Davis, and one niece Phyllis Perry, all of Little Rock, AR. Also, one brother Robert Perry III of Fort Washington, MD.
James leaves to cherish his memories, his daughter LaMonyia C. Perry, one son James M. Perry Jr., three brothers, Dwight (Vera), Louis (Barbara), all of Little Rock, AR, and Phillip Sr. of San Antonio, TX. Ten grandchildren, Donneal II, Drelain, De’Jhana Molden, Jada’, Michael II, Maliyah, Mascen, Micah, Major, and Malik Perry. Five great-grandchildren. A special Uncle Paul Perry Sr. of San Diego, CA, and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. James was truly loved and will be greatly missed.
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. II Timothy 7-8
