The world lost a little bit of its light in the passing of our beloved Jonathan Hayes, who departed this life on September 5, 2024. Born on April 23, 1962, Jonathan was the fourth of five children born to Jeff and Estella Hayes, who proceeded him in death.
From an early age, he professed his faith in Christ. He was a devoted prayer warrior participating on the prayer line faithfully every morning at 6 a.m. This shaped his life and the way he impacted those around him.
Jonathan never met a stranger. His infectious smile and positive spirit made every encounter a meaningful one. Known for always sharing uplifting and motivational words, he was particularly passionate about encouraging the younger generation to follow their dreams and embrace the beauty of life.
A lover of life, Jonathan embraced his passions—leadership, entrepreneurship, traveling, sports, and making memories with family and friends. His passion for learning and leadership led him to attend the University of Arkansas, where he met many lifelong friends and brothers as a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity.
For over 40 years, he cultivated international business deals across the globe, showcasing his dedication to entrepreneurship. Jonathan also ran a successful non-profit, Seeds of Hope, which touched countless lives and communities. His work was a true reflection of his heart for service and giving back.
Jonathan was a devoted father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He leaves to cherish his memories, the love of his life, Margaret (Pinky). Their bond was a testament to true love, lasting through the decades. He also leaves behind his children, Jonathan Jr. (Maryann), Pilar, Alex, Parker, Jessica and Jeremye (Keisha) Hall; siblings: Khadijah(Anderson) Lewis, Sharon (Daniel) Thomas, Jeff Jr. and Jay Hayes, grandchildren, Lyric, Kyoto, Jaiden, Kennedy, Jeremy Jr., Austin, Adien and Liyah; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and countless loved ones who will forever cherish his memory.
Jonathan’s life was a beautiful testament to love, faith, and joy. His motto was “worry about nothing, pray about everything”. Even though Jonathan is no longer with us, his legacy of kindness, encouragement, and love will live on in all who knew him.
