Rickey Odell Smiley was born on October 21, 1959, to Anna Lee Smiley and Leroy
Henderson. They both preceded him in death, along with a son, Devin Jadel, and a
sister, Doris Jean Reed.
Rickey attended Little Rock schools. At age 18, he accepted Christ at Victory
Temple COGIC, Bishop Joe Noble, Pastor, San Francisco, CA.
Soon after returning to Arkansas, he answered his calling to preach the Gospel
under the leadership of Elder Rochester Rodgers, pastor of The Bibleway Church
of God in Christ, Little Rock, AR.
Rev. Smiley became a “traveling Preacher” and enjoyed the Outreach ministry.
While he was gifted in woodwork and was a good carpenter, he never turned
down an opportunity to pray and preach.
Rev. Rickey Smiley bonded with the Greater Archview Baptist Church, where he
worked as God led him. He then joined Greater Rose of Sharon, Little Rock, where
he met his bride, Bobbie James. They were united on July 23, 2022.
In 2023, Rev. and Mrs. Rickey Smiley became members of Pilgrim Valley Baptist
Church, where Pastor Patrick H. Greene Sr. is in leadership. Rev. Smiley remained
an Associate Minister until God called him home.
Rev. Rickey Odell Smiley departed this life on July 10, 2024, at the Cottage Lane
Health and Rehab Center in Hospice Care.
His wife, Bobbie Smiley, will cherish his memories, as will his brother, Robert
Smiley; sisters, Brenda (Walter) Henderson, Roberta (Charles) Harshaw, Juanita
Brown, Theressa Keener, and Cynthia Henderson. He leaves five bonus children:
Theresa Walker (Mike), Quinton James (Kessler), Terrence James (Theresa),
Krystian Crockett, and Raymond Bird. Six bonus grandchildren are Brian, Kiyla,
Krystina, Kaden, AJ, and Nevach.
Along with a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
