Roy Charlie Glass III

Charlie Glass was born on August 23, 1946, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Gertha Flannigan and Roy C. Glass II. He was the third born of nine children and was raised in a close-knit family that remained an important part of his life.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Robert Flannigan, Carl Glass, Paul Glass, and Gregory Jones; and two children, Shenecka Williams and John Foster.

He attended Horace Mann High School and graduated with the Class of 1966.

Charlie was a dedicated worker throughout his life. He spent many years employed by MacMillan Bloedel and later worked as a forklift driver for Munsey's. In his later years, he performed various assignments until his retirement in 2013.

Charlie found great joy in spending time with family and friends, especially at his childhood home on 3009 Wolfe Street. He was a loyal Pittsburgh Steelers fan and an avid Metro Bus rider who enjoyed meeting and connecting with people throughout the community.

Charlie was married twice, first to the late Laverne Jones and later to the late Pearlie Pike.

He leaves to cherish his memory his seven children: Uvonna (Gregory) Williams, Aundrae (Tina) Sanders, Deana Sanders, Lashawnna Williams, Nefeteria Pike, Jermaine “Greedy” Glass, and Tiffany Thomas. He is also survived by three sisters, Myrtle Blow of Dallas, Texas, Janice Burgess, and Jamie Jones; one brother, Leroy Jones Jr.; 27 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Charlie will be remembered for his love of family, his hardworking spirit, and the many memories he shared with those who knew and loved him.
