Mother Vera Mae Bryant Johnson was born on March 6, 1942 to the late Herman and Adella Bryant in
Little Rock, AR. Vera was the first child of the five born to this union.
Vera received Christ at an early age being active in church as a child. She grew up in St. Peter’s Rock
Baptist Church. She loved serving the Lord. She served with the homeless ministry and compassionately fed people from her home within her neighborhood. Vera loved the excitement of
singing in the Women’s Day Choir. Vera later joined Second Baptist Church Barrow Rd and attended
faithfully until her health declined. Vera remained committed and became a virtual member faithfully
tuning in on Sundays and Wednesdays to receive the Word of God. She loved traveling with the
church on out of towns trips.
Vera attended Gartrell High School in England for two years during the desegregation of the Little
Rock Public School System. She graduated from Horace Mann High School in 1959.
She was a dedicated employee of Pleasant Hills Assistant Living Center for twenty years. Vera was a passionate
private duty caregiver, and she dedicated her life to serving others. Vera’s love for her family was
unconditional and she never met a stranger wherever she went.
Vera met and married the love of her life Hubert Johnson, and Hubert received entrance into eternity
in 1988. Vera’s memories will live on in the hearts of those who have been touched by her kind spirit. She
received entrance into eternity on Friday December 12, 2025. She is now united with her parents,
Herman Sr. and Adella Bryant; three brothers; Floyd, Freddy and Herman Bryant Jr; and her sister
Margaret.
She leaves to cherish and embrace her memories: three daughters, Alicia Renee Johnson, Kimberly
Denise Williams, and LaToya Shre’ Johnson all of Little Rock, AR; eight grandchildren; Tamika Johnson,
Antonio Embry, Edward Williams Jr, Ja’Bralin Johnson, Jamar Bluefer, Capriesha Johnson, Maiesha
Johnson, and Taniesha Johnson; ten great grandchildren, two sister in laws; Jewel Bryant and Rosie
